Grease comes to HHS
Sep 16, 2015
The original Broadway production of Grease, written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, opened in 1971, before the hit movie with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John was released in theaters.
Popular musical numbers from the play include “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “Summer Nights,” and “Greased Lightning.”
Maria Vargas, junior, is a member of HHS Royal Productions, which is putting on the musical Grease this fall.
“To audition, we had to pick a song that was from the same time period as the musical,” Vargas said.
The vocal auditions took place Sept. 8, and dance auditions were held on Sept. 11. Between 50 and 60 students auditioned, and they were judged on both their singing and acting skills over two nights.
“Overall, the auditions went pretty well, and there was a huge turnout this year,” Vargas said.
For Ms. Natalie Foster, director of HHS Royal Productions, this will be her first time directing the musical.
Callbacks for the show took place on Sept. 11, and the final cast list was posted on Sept. 13.
The performance dates are Nov. 12, 13, and 14 in the main auditorium.
