Coming off a big win on Wednesday, May 27, vs. Mound Westonka in the first round of sections, the girls lacrosse team traveled to Eden Prairie to play a quarterfinal game against the Eagles.

The Eagles were first on the scoreboard, scoring a goal early on in the game. Sophie Frank, senior captain, tied the game up directly after with a goal assisted by Sammi Galinson, sophomore.

The Royals struggled to gain possession for most of the half, scoring no more goals. The Eagles led 14-1 at half.

Ten minutes into the game, the Royals pulled their starting goalie Molly Dionne, senior, and let her play in the field.

Alina Boyce, junior, scored the last goal of the Royals’ season with an unassisted shot. Eden Prairie went on to end the Royals season with a 19-2 win.

“It was tough to end the season that way. We all were thinking of the mistakes we made and what we could have done better, but the good things we did and good times we had this season outweigh that,” Frank said. “I am so proud of how the team stepped up this season, and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish next year.”
