Just days after HHS seniors cross the stage for graduation, many faculty will already be preparing to teach their summer school courses.

The summer school program provides students with the opportunity to retake classes that they previously failed. Many of the required courses for graduation are offered such as Geometry, English 9, and PE 10. Students must receive counselor verification to receive credit in the subject area they are taking and cannot miss more than one day of class.

“We typically have around 240-280 students enrolled with 14 teachers, 1 coordinator, and 2 para professionals,” said Dale Clark, English and Summer School Coordinator.

Summer school at HHS takes place from June 15th to July 9th. Each day students participate in two classes from 8:50 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.

“Students can expect two to two and half hours of homework each week. It is a somewhat fast paced remediation of the course and the class size ranges from 15 to 18 students,” said Dale Clark, English and Summer School Coordinator.
The deadline to apply for summer school is May 29th.
