On Tuesday May, 5, the boys lacrosse team played host to the Eden Prairie Eagles. Coming into the game, the Eagles were on a two game losing streak. In those two games the Eagles scored a combined eight goals which is below their season average of 9.5 goals per game.

The last time these two teams faced off, the Eagles won handedly with a 16-1 final. With their back-to-back losses to Lake Conference foes Edina and Wayzata, the Eagles dropped to a 2-2 Lake Conference record and had a 5-2 overall record.

The game didn’t start the way that the Royals had hoped. In the first half, the Eagles controlled the pace of the game had the ball in the Royals zone for most of the first half. A disappointing first half found the boys down 9-1.

“The game went poorly,” said Danny Dolan, sophomore. “We started the game with high intensity, but after we had a few goals scored on us we lost some of our confidence and made little mistakes that we shouldn’t have made,” Dolan said.

The Royals looked to dig themselves out of an eight goal deficit in the second half. They did outscore the Eagles 6-5 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to comeback and win on senior night. The Royals were defeated at the hand of the Eden Prairie Eagles by a final score of 14-7.

In the team’s next game, the Royals will next take on the Minnetonka Skippers. This will be the first matchup between the two teams. The Skippers have an overall record of 4-4 and have a 0-4 record in the Lake Conference.

The Royals and Skippers were scheduled to play on April 21 but the game was rained out. The game was rescheduled for May 23.
