Spanish 6 students participate in La Extravaganza food project
Mar 3, 2015
Tres Leche cake, albóndigas, agua de Jamaica. An array of traditional Hispanic dishes rested on tables in Ms. Andrea Sebenaler’s Spanish 6 classroom today. Students in Spanish 6 brought either a Hispanic drink, side dish, main dish, or dessert from their assigned country to share with the class as part of the La Extravaganza food project.
The two-day project began on Monday when students performed mini-dramas in Spanish. Each group of four chose a Spanish speaking country, created a menu, and performed a mini-drama restaurant scene. Within their mini-dramas, students mentioned the traditional food dishes which they actually prepared and brought to school today.
Spanish 6 is a University of Minnesota (CIS) course that focuses on both culture and grammar at a higher level of comprehension.
“It has been a great day today in Spanish 6 because we have had the opportunity to try a variety of foods from various Hispanic countries,” said Oliver Haeger.
