Concert Choir selected to perform at Fall Conference
Nov 24, 2014
While most students attended class on Friday, Nov. 21, the students in the HHS Concert Choir attended a conference. The choir was the featured performer at the Minnesota Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association(ACDA) 38th annual conference.
“Only one choir a year gets picked so it is an honor,” said Erik Jansa, senior. “This award is not a tribute to this year’s choir but the choir program as a whole. It was how this choir performed in previous years that achieved this opportunity. It is a cool feeling to carry out a tradition that is bigger than yourself.”
The conference has been known to feature the best choirs in Minnesota.
“It was nice being recognized as a really good choir, and it made it feel like all of the practice we have put in is worth it,” said Graham Hutson, senior.
The ACDA is an organization that promotes choral singing around the state trying to provide artistic, cultural, and spiritual experiences for all participants. The organization has held many different conferences providing and promoting choral singing.
In addition to their recent performance for the ACDA, the Concert Choir will perform in the high school’s annual Winter Choir Concert on Dec. 17 at the Hopkins High School auditorium.
