On Friday Nov. 14, Ari Brace, senior captain, placed third at the state meet for diving.

On the first day of the state tournament, 32 divers were entered in the competition. The judges eliminated the lowest ranking divers after their fifth and eighth dives.

Brace survived the first round in first place but fell to fourth place after her eighth dive. Brace ended the first day with 294 points.

On the second and final day of the state meet, 16 divers remained. Brace dove 3 times and ended up in third place. She finished with 420.15 points, just three points from second place.

“We are so proud of Ari. She really stepped up this year. It’s just so great to see her do well,” said Trevor Brace, Ari’s father.

Brace will now move on in her diving career to spend the next four years diving with North Dakota.

“I feel more prepared than I did before this meet, and I’m excited to dive there,” Brace said.
