Andy Gamble, sophomore, stars as Oliver in HHS’s production of Oliver.

Why did you start acting?

“When I was little, I always liked to play pretend and I found it really fun. So I thought, ‘Why not do it for the school?’”

How long have you been acting?

“In the theater program here, I have been acting since freshman year and this is my first musical.”

How does the role of Oliver compare to roles you have had in other productions?

“The only other role I have ever had was the role of chorus member number 3 in the Winter One Acts. I can’t really compare Oliver to any other role i’ve had because I haven’t had many. [Oliver] is a very honest character, he is child like and very innocent.”

What is your favorite thing about the Hopkins Theater Program?

“[The program] is a really fun environment to be in and you make friends so easily. I just feel really welcomed.”

What are you most looking forward to in performing “Oliver!”?

“[I’m looking forward to] the audience’s reaction and the casts reaction. Also the energy of the entire thing, It’s just a really good thing to feel.”

What are your future plans with acting?

“I would like to be an actor when I grow up. I would like to go to a drama school, that would be really fun. People always want a career they will enjoy, and I think I would really enjoy being an actor.”
