The Royals girls soccer team is one win away from going to the state tournament. Sound familiar? That’s because the Royals have been in the section finals the previous three years, each ending in heartbreak.

Before reaching the section finals, the Royals had to get through the 11-1-4 Armstrong Falcons, a team that beat the Royals on Sep. 20 by a score of 1-0. Revenge would come for the Royals as second-half goals by Corbin Boyd, senior and Ashley Akin, sophomore pushed HHS into the section final with Wayzata.

In last season’s section semifinal game, the Royals beat Wayzata for the first time in 19 years. This season, the Royals and Trojans split the season series with one win apiece.

Tomorrow, the third-seeded Royals and the first-seeded Trojans will meet again for the section 6AA crown at Wayzata Stadium 7 p.m.
