Girls tennis eliminated in section semis

At the 6AA section semi finals on Monday, Oct. 6, the HHS girls tennis team lost to Edina, who was ranked number one in the section.

The girls came into the section 6AA tournament as the 5th seed and won their first game against De La Salle and beat Benilde, ranked 4th in the quarterfinals. The team had already lost to Benilde in the regular season.

“It was really exciting because they were seated above us and we did lose to them earlier in the season but it was a really close match,” said Jessica Crouser, senior. “I know from last year, we almost beat them in sections but didn’t. They have always been really close to us.”

Crouser had hoped to make it farther in sections, but was excited about the upset against Benilde.

“Usually in tennis there is not that much room for upsets.  If there is a better team, they are going to win.”

Although the season is over, Crouser doesn’t have regrets about her senior year tennis season.

“We went to practice every single day for two hours, put in the work and did the best we could.”
