Boys baseball ready to win it all

Baseball is back in Minnesota and as Carlos Correa is hitting home runs at Target Field, HHS has star shortstop and Arizona commit, Maddox Mcalcaus, senior, hitting walk off homeruns in the bottom of the 12th in the Royals first game.

Hopkins baseball is loaded this year and ready to take on the Lake Conference, coming in at the number one seed in class 4A according to @minnesotahsbaseball on Instagram.

Hopkins baseball is full of kids who are ready to play at the next level, with 7 players committed to play at the college level.

No team is near those numbers in the Lake Conference. This conference is always stacked, but Hopkins wants to make a strong push this year to make it out, go to state, and finish strong

“I believe if we can make it out of our conference then no other team in the state stands a chance,” Paul Safranski, Upper Iowa commit and senior, said. “The Lake Conference tournament could be harder than the state tournament.”

This Hopkins baseball team has great energy going into the season. The royals are full of seniors, even going down to the bottom of the bench with Sam Levitt, senior. With a roster full of experience there is no doubt that this team will make a deep playoff run.

“All I want to do is bring a state championship back home to Hopkins,” Charlie Schaefer, senior, said. “Every year I feel like we’ve come so close every year and at the end of this season we will hold up that trophy as a team.”

The Royals have started off strong with a 2-0 record beating Chanhassen and Armstrong, looking to beat SLP tonight.
