Club Overview: Hopkins Faith Club
Feb 18, 2021
With the new year passing, comes new beginnings, as HHS club Royals for Christ (RFC) becomes a certified Christian Faith Campus Club, now known as Hopkins Faith Club.
Will Nelson and Elena Candamil, seniors, initiated this change by posting on their Instagram, having a giveaway in spite.
“We wanted more support and guidance from adults who can help us create sermons, come up with creative ideas, and overall just be our cheerleaders,” said Candamil.
Christian Faith Campus Clubs are a local MN organization for high schools. On their Instagram, it says their role is “Empowering and equipping students to share the hope and love of Jesus on campus in schools.”
Their clubs are also established in Eagan, Lakeville, Farmington, and Prior Lake high schools.
“Being part of a Campus Faith Club means that I’m able to communicate with a community of like-minded people who will help challenge my faith,” said Candamil. “I appreciate everyone in our club and how I also feel connected to people in faith clubs at other schools.”
Christian Campus Faith Clubs provide individual clubs with the guidance of setting up meetings and events to help expand. For instance, they help with questions or lessons to talk about during club meetings and give the ability for individual clubs to reach out to other faith clubs and leaders of the organization.
The switch will also be carried over into the next school year, 21-22, which will give leaders additional support if they have never led a club before.
“For the leaders who are stepping up this year and who will also be passing the club onto next year, it gives them additional support if they’ve never led a club before,” said Candamil.
The switch of clubs was not easy, but they took on the task.
