Super Bowl 55 left most people shocked as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dominated the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9. 

Such a statement win from Brady left a bunch of takeaways from Sunday’s game.

First and foremost, Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback to ever play football and I don’t see anyone catching him in the near future. While Brady is obviously great on the field, it’s what he does off the field that truly makes him spectacular. 

Brady’s presence managed to shift a very talented team with a losing culture into a super bowl team in just one year

Pro Football Reference had the buccaneers ranked as the 2nd worst defense in football in their 2019 season. Without any notable signings in free agency and only spending a minor amount of their draft capital on defense, the Buccaneers managed to become the 8th best defense and were the reason that this game was such a blowout. 

Lots of credit also needs to go to Todd Bowles, the defensive coordinator of the Buccaneers. Unlike any other team all season long, Bowles managed to neutralize the potent Chiefs offense. 

Guys like Shaq Barret, Ndamukong Suh, and Jason Pierre Paul were in Patrick Mahomes’ face all night long forcing him to throw the ball a lot earlier than he wanted to. Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill were always double covered which forced Mahomes to look in other directions than his primary Targets. 

Bowles definitively outcoached Head Coach Andy Reid and Offensive Coordinator Eric Bienemy.

Prior to the Super Bowl, a lot of people had Mahomes as the guy to eventually dethrone Tom Brady.

In just 3 years of being a starting quarterback, he’s won MVP of the league, the super bowl, and made the super bowl in back to back years. At just 25 years old, he’s thrown for over 14,000 yards and 114 touchdowns. While his all-time great talent is truly undeniable, after the super bowl, I don’t see a scenario where Mahomes can overtake Brady as the greatest QB ever. 

No matter what he does, people will look back to February 7, 2021, and see that Brady obliterated the Chiefs at 43 years old vs Mahomes in his prime.

People are always going to debate whether or not to give more credit to Brady or to Bill Belicheck for the success of the New England Patriots over the past 20 years. 

Without taking any credit away from the greatest coach ever, Brady silenced all doubters on Sunday that questioned if he could do it on his own.
