McDonalds Introduces Plant Based Option to Menus for 2021
Nov 23, 2020
The year 2020 has been exciting for McDonald’s customers, as they introduced Spicy McNuggets, a Chips Ahoy McFlurry and the popular, limited-time Travis Scott and J-Balvin meals.
To add to the thrilling string of events, McDonald’s announced they will be coming out with the McPlant, a plant-based burger. Starting early next year, McDonald’s will begin adding it to menus at McDonald’s around the world.
The McPlant allows vegetarian customers to have a choice at one of the largest fast food chains in the world and similar to the Impossible Burger at Burger King, it will be vegan too.
Burger King introduced the Impossiburger in 2019 and recently added an Impossible Whopper and Impossible Croissan’wich to the menu. Pizza Hut is making an Italian sausage pizza using Beyond Meat too.
Beyond Meat is the producer of many of these plant-based meat products. Their goal is to make meat for the future, one that is healthier and better for the environment.
The production of beef considerably contributes to the contamination of our planet more than any other food. A serving of beef contributes five times more greenhouse gas than a serving of pork or chicken, proving that Beyond Meat is much better than the alternative for the environment.
While the Impossible Burger is certainly healthier than a regular burger, it isn’t necessarily a healthy food.
The Impossible Burger is still high in calories and greasy, and the McPlant will likely be the same.
