Prom cancelled due to COVID-19
Mar 20, 2020
As of March 20, communicated via email by Mr. Doug Bullinger, principal, prom has officially made the list of cancelled events, due to the coronavirus.
Prior to this announcement, the junior/senior dance was scheduled to occur on April 18.
Due to increased number of positive COVID-19 cases, the state has mandated a ban on social gatherings of parties larger than 10, in which prom would inevitably surpassed, as the greater portion of the senior and junior class attends, as well some invited sophomores.
Ryan Nelsen, senior, is among the students saddened by this cancelation.
“This is my senior year and I wanted to go out with a bang,” Nelsen said. “I’m disappointed that a important high school event like prom was taken away from us, during what is a students last year at HHS.”
There has been no word yet about a possible rescheduling of prom.
Additionally, events such as senior’s graduation, occuring on June 4, have yet to be postponed or cancelled, as graduation speaker applications are remaining open for submission.
