MSHSL cancels state tournaments
Mar 13, 2020
As of 10:45 a.m. Fri. March 13, the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) canceled the Girls Basketball State Tournament and all boys section and state basketball games, due to the Coronavirus.
These games are just two of the events that have been canceled due to the spreading of COVID-19. Earlier this week the NHL and NBA seasons were suspended, as well as events across the nation being held without fans or not at all.
“It is really devastating to hear [that the state championship was canceled] considering the hard work that the team has put in, as well as the fact that we would be making history,” said Tehmi Bozicevich, senior.
As the novel Coronavirus continues to spread across the nation, Minnesota life has slowly shutdown. Robbinsdale School District has already closen its doors due to the budding illness.
As of spring sports, no cancelation or announcement to postpone have been made. According to the MSHSL website, a public statement on spring sports will be made later in the day.
Gov. Tim Walz will address the state of Minnesota at 1 p.m. today.
