Student Profile: Adam Rothman

Mar 19, 2019

Adam Rothman, sophomore, is leaving his mark on Hopkins High School.

Only in his sophomore year, Rothman is already behind HHS engage, a student led club aiming to improve the culture and engagement at HHS.

“It’s a club that focuses on engaging high school students, and having them actually want to come to school,” Rothman said.

Adam first decided to get involved with HHS engaged after seeing the lack of engagement in upper grade levels.

“At the elementary school level, kids seem so ready to learn, but as you get older the engagement and excitement of going to school dwindles to almost nothing,” Rothman said.

The club’s current focus is “paint the pillar.” A new tradition in which seniors will sign and decorate one of HHS’s many pillars in order  to leave their mark on the school.

“We wanted seniors and high schoolers to have a feeling of importance,” Rothman said.

On top of HHS engaged, Adam is also involved in a series of extracurriculars and out of school activities such as the debate team, HURT (Hopkins Ultimate Recreational Team), GTCYS (Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies), and youth in government.

While this might seem like a bombastic amount of responsibilities to some, Rothman seems unfazed.

“I just try and keep a balanced lifestyle. If it seems like I’m doing to much or spending too much of my time on one thing, I cut it back a little bit and focus on some other things,” Rothman said.

With Adam only being a sophomore, we can only look forward to more innovation and community involvement from him in the future.
