Club Spotlight: Photography club

Dec 10, 2018

The Photography Club here believes the old English idiom that says a picture is worth a thousand words.

“It gives students who are interested in photography a chance to share photos and to encourage each other to try out new techniques,” said Eleanor Piepgras, sophomore.

The school has around 55 clubs and organizations students can engage in.

Photography Club gives students the ability to spend time with those who share their interest in taking pictures, have some of their photos on the Instagram page for others to see and a chance to enter their work into some small friendly contests,” Piepgras said.

In addition to building a community, the club also hopes to diversify HHS with a tool that can go past high school. Although photography is often considered a hobby, it is influential in the growing industry of today’s world.

The practice is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production and mass communication.

“It increases the options for Hopkins students since a photography club wasn’t previously offered at the school,” Piepgras said. “So far there has only been one meeting, but I’m happy with how it went and the direction it’s going!”
