HHS Band Society does ‘Show Me the Money’ show at The Depot

Dec 5, 2018

The HHS Band Society put on the ‘Show Me the Money’ musical performances at The Depot on Friday Nov 30. The event started at 7 p.m. and the entrance cost was $5.

The show gives young HHS students the chance to perform at a local venue, giving them a rise to their career. Each act is 20 minutes long, with six performances throughout. Performances include Em VanWiele, Sam Randall, Teddie Bernard, and bands Out of Ink, Wolf Pack and On the Fence.

This performance raised over $400 to go to the HHS Band Society to help fund its society. These types of shows have been a big part of funding for the society for a few years. This event benefited the program in various ways such as “travel opportunities, funding, weekly guest clinicians, and many more ways.”

As for the show, this was Em VanWiele’s, sophomore, first show at The Depot. Her act consisted of her original music. As an artist, she’s previously performed at various talent shows, but this is her first show. She has another upcoming show on Dec. 14.

“I think the show went well, the crowd was great and it was so cool to share my creations and experiences with people in a personal yet indirect way,” Vanwiele said.

VanWiele started writing music when she was 10, but she started performing and learning music when she was 7. For her set, she performed six original pieces.
