HHS gets new addition to the guidance office: Sophie Bigelow

Anyone who has walked into the guidance office recently may have noticed that there’s a new face greeting them at the door.

Sophie Bigelow is a secretary in the guidance office and the newest addition to the HHS staff.

Bigelow was previously an elementary school teacher, educating both second and fifth grade. She then went on to receive a master’s degree in psychology through a counseling program.

“I have a school counseling license, but not in Minnesota,” Bigelow said. “I just moved here, so I’ll have to transfer my license.”

Bigelow lived in California for about five years before moving to Norway. After her husband got his PhD, they moved to Minnesota and he became a professor at the University of Minnesota.

“I saw this job posted and I thought it sounded like fun, so here I am!” Bigelow said.
