Preview: Baseball takes on the Trojans
May 3, 2018
On Fri. May, 5, the Royals baseball team will face the team that knocked them out of the sections tournament last year.
This will be the first time the Royals will see the Trojans since they ended their season the past year, and the Royals are ready and want revenge.
“We have been preparing ourselves this whole offseason for this game,” said Kyle Chiriboga, senior. “We know what our team does best, and that’s pitching and defense. As long as those components happen, we know the top of our lineup can put up a good number.”
Last year the Royals faced the Trojans five times and lost all of them. However, this year the teams are different. The Royals had a solid start, but have dropped the last two and sit at a 4-3 record while the Trojans have been struggling and sit at 1-4.
“Knowing the talent in their [Wayzata’s] dugout and the talent in our dugout, we aren’t expecting anything less than a win. I’m confident that we will get the result we’ve been working towards,” Chiriboga said.
In their most recent game, the Royals fell to the Blaine Bengals 0-4 and have now lost three out of their last four. The Trojans are playing the Edina Hornets later today in hopes to get back-to-back wins after starting off the season 0-4.
Errors have been the main problem for the Royals in their past four games, especially against Roseville when they had 11 errors and in turn gave up 11 runs. The team has been switching up their lineup pretty much every game in hopes to find the one that will click.
