The XXIII Olympic Winter Games, also called PyeongChang 2018, have begun and people at HHS and around the world are very excited.

Corinne Lowmanstone, sophomore, is an avid watcher of the Olympics with her family.

“I really like watching ice skating because of the beauty and grace in the sport. It is really amazing how the ice skaters make it look like what they are doing is easy, but in reality it is extremely difficult,” said Lowmanstone.

According to the Star Tribune, around 22 Minnesotans are representing the United States this year. The local CBS said Minnesota has the third most locals representing Team USA of all the states this Olympic season.

“One of my favorite events is downhill skiing because it is fast and scary. I admire the people who do downhill skiing because it would petrify me. My husband gets really excited about skiing events since he likes to ski and I enjoy seeing how happy he is when he is watching it,” said Andrea Sebenaler, Spanish teacher.

Clearly Lowmanstone and Sebenaler are not the only people in the world who enjoy watching the Olympics. The Washington Post reported that an estimated 28 million people watched the opening ceremony of this year’s Olympics.

Whether or not somebody likes to watch curling or speed skating, there is still time to tune in to watch some of the world’s most talented athletes compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics.
