The 2017-18 Gymnastics season is on the rise and many exciting things are coming up for this year’s Royals.
“I’m looking forward to meeting new people and having fun being on a high school team,” said Lucy Speers, sophomore, a gymnast new to the team this year.
The gymnastics season consists of long, intense practices and many meets, both home and away. The Royals spend practice time preparing and bonding as a team in order to score as high as possible against the other teams in the meets.
This year, each and every team member brings her own aspect to the team and together they hope to achieve great things this season.
With over 10 new gymnasts joining the team, this upcoming season holds lots of potential. Captain Sydney Schaefer, senior, believes the team will perform really well at meets this year.
“Based on tryouts this year I think our girls will be scoring higher than we ever have since I’ve been on the team,” Schaefer said.
This upcoming season is also special as the Royals have welcomed two Benilde-St.Margaret’s gymnasts to join the team, after their own school was not able to field a full squad.
With the addition of two skilled gymnasts from outside of HHS, the team has potential to have a standout year.
