Preview: Football takes on Cardinals in last regular season game
Oct 17, 2017
Tomorrow, October 18th, the Royals regular season will come to an end after they play the Coon Rapids Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played on Wednesday instead of Friday due to the MEA break.
After the Royals won their first game of the season, they came back and lost 21-48 against the Forest Lake Rangers. The Royals didn’t give up in that game, after being down 0-21 they came back and were down 21-28. That deficit expanded quickly and the Royals didn’t score the rest of the game.
The Royals are coming into this game with a 1-6 record and hoping to not end the season on a losing streak. The defense will look to get back on track to holding their opponents to under 25 points in this last game.
“We’re looking for a solid performance to lead us into the playoffs,” said James Klecker, junior. “With the short week, we’ve had to learn stuff a lot quicker than any other full week.”
The Royals don’t have the easiest game to end the season, the Cardinals are coming into the game with a 4-3 record, but a 2-game losing streak. Earlier in the season, they had a 4-game win streak going but that ended against the Chanhassen Storm.
“We’re looking to go out of the regular season with a win,” Klecker said.
