The Royals boys soccer have a tough Lake Conference matchup against the Minnetonka Skippers who have been having a successful season.

The Skippers are going into this game with a record of 9-3-1. They’ve played well during a tough soccer schedule and will bring the fight tonight.

Jake Rosenblum, senior, believes coming together as a team and communicating is a key to success.

“The team needs to play as a unit. Working together will help us keep possession and put balls in the back of the net,” Rosenblum said. “Communication will also be important against a team like Minnetonka.”

Ben Paschke, junior, defenseman, thinks the team needs to be resilient and not fold if the team gets scored on.

“The defense needs to be extra physical tonight. Their midfielders are extra quick and we need to work on containing them,” Paschke said. “We also can’t get discouraged if we let in a goal. We need to fight hard and get it back.”

Paschke thinks the team needs to stick to their gameplan.

“As a team, we need to execute our gameplan and not play their type of soccer,” Paschke said.

Josh Goering, senior, captain, talked about their last game against Minnetonka not going so well. Goering, believes the team needs to spread them out in order to win.

“Last game, we could’ve pressured the ball better to make sure they weren’t slotting the ball through the defense,” Goering said. “Tonight’s X-Factor will be switching the field effectively and playing well out wide.”

Paschke has one goal in mind coming into tonight.

“We haven’t fared well against Minnetonka in the past,” Paschke said. “Tonight is our first win.”
