Cohen brings art to life with caricature business

If you’ve ever strolled through a fair or a crowded city street, you may have seen an artist hard at work drawing people with cartoonish features.

This art form, known as caricature, is generally thought to be practiced by older artists. Grant Cohen, senior, is defying those tropes with his caricature business Grant’s Caricatures.

“I had practiced this style of drawing when I was younger,” said Cohen. “I thought to myself, ‘I could do this.’”

This thought was put into action, and he began practicing and perfecting this craft. Eventually, Cohen realized this talent could be used for a business.

“I practiced more and more, and eventually I felt confident in starting my own business.” said Cohen.

Grant’s Caricatures has been operating through his website since 2014. He is often contracted out for parties, Bar Mitzvahs, and other celebrations. Cohen plans to continue drawing and exploring his artistic side for the foreseeable future.

“It could be four a month, or sometimes two. It is pretty sporadic,” Cohen said.
