Girls basketball hopes to rebound from loss in state finals tournament

The Royals girls basketball team currently has a record of 2-0 with wins against the Osseo Orioles and the Moorehead Spurds. Last season, the Royals had a record of 29-3, and made it to the State Championship finals, but lost to Minnetonka by eight points.

As the clock struck zero in last year’s state championship basketball game, the Royals realized they had avenged their loss in the first round of the state championship with a 64-55 victory over the Lakeville North Panthers to become state champions.

Once again the Royals’ veterans deliver. Nia Hollie, senior, dominated the scoring column with 28 points, and also contributed on the glass with 5 rebounds. Ashley Bates, senior, also shined as she netted 23 points and some great defensive plays in Thursday's game against the Eastview Lightning.
