If not for a weekday run to Target, Annika Patterson, junior, would not have gotten involved in track. “I ran into captain Katie Donovan last year at Target, and I was maybe going to do lacrosse last season, but I ended up running track,” Patterson said. “I was more afraid that I wasn’t going to be good but [Donovan] encouraged me to sign up.”

Joe Swenson, senior, captain, has been apart of the track and field team since 7th grade. He started running with friends for fun, but soon discovered his love for track. Swenson now runs the 110m and 300m hurdles, along with the 4X400 relay.

Season preview: Track and field

As temperatures reached into the 60’s two weeks ago, anticipation for the upcoming spring season among teams began. Among them, the track and field team. In the recent years, both Hopkins running teams have made a big name for themselves, especially the cross country team. However, the track team has also done big things; the boys making it to State in 2014 and the girls in 2011.

Player profile: Danny Dolan

Dolan, competing in the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles, began the season with less than desired results. However, recently Dolan has improved and is finishing with more acceptable results.

The Hopkins Track and Field teams have high hopes this year after seeing their distance runners have such success during the cross country season.
