Player Profile: Max Burke

Max Burke, junior, is a lacrosse player with a bright future. Burke is quite new to lacrosse but in his first couple experiences, he’s really enjoyed it.

As a freshman, Jackson James, now sophomore competed with juniors and seniors at the varsity level. James has been playing lacrosse for a while now.

Boys’ tennis look to bounce back from the Jags

Yesterday, the Royals boys tennis team took on the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars, losing the match 1-6. This match was in an unfamiliar location for both the Royals and Jaguars, as due to the weather the match was moved from Bloomington Jefferson High School to Lifetime Bloomington.
The Long division team of Lily Provenzano, Elizabeth Coleman, and Ellen Mattson, sophomores, Lily Smith, junior, and Katie Gunderson, senior, competes their routine Battle Cry at Wayzata on April 25. The five placed second, and Wayzata defeated the Royals in their first routine meet of the season.

Synchronized swimming competes in first routine meet

The Royals lost their first routine meet of the season to Wayzata on Tuesday, April 18, and hopes to improve before the next routine meet, and ultimately the state meet.

Girls’ Lax: Recap of double OT win and first conference win in two years

Yesterday, April 24th, the Royals girls’ lacrosse team picked up their first conference win in two years after beating the Wayzata Trojans in a nailbiter in double overtime.

Softball: Preview of Crimson

Today the Royals girls Softball team will head to Maple Grove for an out of conference game. This game comes after a strong showing from the Royals on Monday where they defeated the Edina Hornets 6-1.

HHS baseball seizes training opportunities

HHS baseball plays 19 games in their regular season, which consists of almost six weeks. Needless to say, their season is short and busy, so what do they do the rest of the year? As a high school varsity team, it’s important for players to be involved in some type of program in the off-season.

Royals synchro take first in first try-meet

The Royals won their meet against the Blake Bears and Eden Prairie Eagles on Tues., April 18. The matchup was a home, figure tri-meet, where the Royals competed against two teams. Jordan Ashby, junior, placed first overall for the Royals in the figure meet. In a figure meet, swimmers are scored by a panel of three to five judge on technical merit.
MaKenzie Merritt, senior, looks for sign from Zoe Jeske, junior, catcher. Merritt and the Royals beat the Trojans 17-9.

MacKenzie Merritt, senior, a passionate and very decorated athlete will be returning in her senior year as a captain, and is looking to lead the Royals back to the state tournament appearances. Merritt started playing softball when she was just eight years old.
