On Feb. 6 Competition One Acts will be held at Edina High School. The HHS theater program will be competing against hundreds of schools across the state.
On Dec. 17, members of the Hopkins Lean Mean Performance Machine (LMPM), the HHS pep band, left Minnesota for the “Happiest Place on Earth”: Disney World.
On Dec. 18, Krattley gathered about 60 teens and adults for a lock-in at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins to bake treats to sell to members of the congregation. From about 8 pm to 3 am, the group made over 100 treats ranging from sugar cookies to toffee.
Sponsored by various companies, including Medtronic, the team is mentored by various professionals to design and build a working robot within six weeks to complete a specific task under various constraints.
“[GSA] is a place where all these people of the community get together and be supported, whether or not they feel they can be out at the whole school or out in a small group,” Johnson said.
Through fundraisers and other donations, they raise money to sponsor girls' education in Guatemala. So far, they have sponsored two girls and hope to raise enough money to sponsor a third this year.
On the east side of the HHS lacrosse fields lies a garden planted and maintained primarily by students involved in the Student Wellness Committee and Project Focus.
