Royals beat Lakeville North 89-84 despite effort by Macura

Reeling after a hard fought loss to number one ranked Apple Valley, the Royals defeated the Lakeville North Panthers, and their dynamic scorer, senior guard JP Macura 89-84 in a packed gym at Minnetonka High School during the Breakdown Tip Off Classic last night.

Macura lead the Panthers with 48 points, going 17-33 from the field. Macura averages an astounding 43.8 points per game with a season high of 55 in a win over Farmington.

HHS produced a more balanced attack, with Stephon Sharp, senior, and Amir Coffey, sophomore, dropping 25 and 20 points respectively.

Hopkins’ leading scorer senior guard Jake Wright was relatively “tame” with 15 points and a rough night from three, coming off a 24 point effort versus Apple Valley draining three pointer after three pointer in the 96-90 loss.

The Royals play again Tuesday, 7:00 PM at Patrick Henry.
