The Royals boys hockey team recorded their first win of the season in a thrilling overtime win against the Minneapolis Millers. The final score of the game was 6-5. The game was quite close during the first three periods, and was tied up 5-5 after the third, but ultimately was decided by Ryan St. Clair, senior, captain.

Following the Royals boys hockey team’s return from Cloquet over the weekend, where they played two team from the area, the Royals prepare to face the Minneapolis Millers in their second home game of the year. Despite starting off 0-5, the boys are hopeful for the first win of the season.

The Royals finished up their tryouts the week of Mon. Nov. 14. Now, with teams decided, the Royals are getting ready to start their season, and head coach Corey Peterson is ready as well. After having a record of 6-17-1 last season, Peterson wants to change what last year’s team lacked.

The Fire put up a good fight, and after the first period the score was 0-0. The Fire managed to score one in the second, but the Royals came back with three unanswered goals scored by Jenna Kimbrel, senior, and Kylie Hanley and Annika Patterson, juniors.
