Shot after shot, hit after hit, the Royals trap continues to prove that they are a proud, and competitive. “The interest in the district is so much that we have 40 kids on the team and 12 on a waiting list,” Mr. Mark Czech, head coach of the HHS trap team said.

Recap of first half of synchro sections

The Royals synchronized swimming team participated in the West Sections Figures meet on Tuesday, May 16 in Prior Lake. In a figures meet, a panel of judges critique each swimmer on technical merit. At the end of the meet, the scoring totals are added up and awarded points are awarded to each team.

Kylie Hanley, junior, is a multi-faceted athlete, while in the winter she focuses on going above and beyond in hockey, when spring comes around her attention turns to lacrosse. “I love the program and the group of girls, everyone is really supportive and normally there’s no drama,” Hanley said of the Royals girls lacrosse team.

Baseball experiences midseason success with 4-game win streak

In their third and fourth weeks of the season, the HHS baseball team has finally found a spark in their game to help get their offense going.

Though the Royals JV lacrosse team has struggled in the past years, their recent improvements have led to their first win in seven years.

Navit Nachmias, junior, has been doing track and field for eleven years. This is her third year on the HHS track and field team. “I originally started as a sprinter, but once I got to the HHS team I started working out with the jumpers and I loved it and I have been doing it ever since,” Nachmias said.

Baseball: Recap of Millers

The Royals came into last night’s home matchup against the Minneapolis Washburn Millers with a three game winning streak, looking to extend it to four. Jack Kohen, senior, was the starting pitcher and pitched three innings, striking out eight batters. Kohen was also given the win for his performance.

Multi-sport athlete Abby Martin, junior, is looking to improve friendships and team community while leading the Royals to some big wins this season. Martin has been playing lacrosse since eighth grade, at the age of 14. Martin started lacrosse much later than most, but has previous sports experience from soccer which she is still currently playing, being voted captain for the girls team this upcoming 2017 fall season.

Early in the season, the Royals lacrosse team has struggled but still have a lot of fight left in them. “It’s been pretty rough so far, but we’re making small improvements every game and we haven’t given up,” Jackson James, sophomore, said. “In these next few weeks, we get to play some smaller programs which should be closer games.”
