Music Review: Lecrae, The Destination Tour

Nov 16, 2016

Nov. 9, Ambré Perkins, and Lecrae came to Minneapolis on the Destination Tour, performing at First Avenue.

Perkins, a relatively new rapper, has 37 songs released. Her role in the show was to get the crowd ready, and hyped for the show. She did just that, and quickly.

After four songs by Perkins there was a 15 minute intermission so that the Lecrae tech team could change the setup. Lecrae rushed the stage with the classic “What’s up Minneapolis!!” to a roar of approval, and then continued with a portion from the song Minnesota by Lil Yachty.

Unlike many other rappers Lecrae had a somewhat relaxed crowd. There were portions of the crowd going crazy but also the exact opposite.

Lecrae stopped the show halfway through to speak on behalf of the recent racial tension. Calling people to come together and really show one another love. Most of his songs sang were based on that issue.

At the end of the concert Lecrae walked off to a crowd chanting “encore,” He ran back onto the stage and finished with his song It is was it is to a united crowd in a craze. Overall a great concert with a meaningful message.
