Angie Hammond, junior, is the starting center for the Royals girls basketball team. Hammond is looking to make the most out of her junior season, because this is a pivotal time in the recruitment process.

Hammond has offers from Siena College in New York, which on Nov. 9, teammate Dee Dee Winston signed her letter of intent for, and Southern Illinois University, which are both NCAA Division 1 schools.

But before Hammond focuses on her college career, she first wants to focus on her high school career.

“Personally, I’m looking forward to creating unbreakable bonds with my teammates, by getting to know the underclassmen and getting closer with the seniors on the team” Hammond said. “I also want to get bigger in the weight room, so I can baby people out there [on the court].”

Hammond and the Royals lost to the Minnetonka Skippers last year in the State Championship, so this year Hammond wants the outcome to be much different.

“I want us to bounce back and win State, so we’re all ready to work towards that goal, and win our seventh title,” Hammond said.
