On Saturday, Nov. 5 the HHS cross country team had their State meet, held at the St. Olaf campus. The Royals had four runners who qualified for the race: Seth Eliason, senior, and Eli Hoeft, sophomore, for the boys, and Renae Anderson and Bit Klecker, seniors, for the girls.

Eliason placed fourth in the race, running a 15:51. Hoeft took 73rd out of the 173 runners, with a time of 17:06.

Klecker and Anderson placed 101st and 108th, respectively, out of the 175 racers.

Last year, the entire boys varsity team including Anderson and Klecker for the girls had qualified for and raced at State. There, the boys team took home the first place trophy.

Following the State meet, both the boys and girls varsity teams– along with several junior varsity runners for both– participated in the Nike Regionals meet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota last year. The boys placed first and qualified for Nike Nationals in Oregon, where they placed seventh.

Currently, many members of the boys and girls teams are preparing for this year’s Nike Regionals meet, which again will be in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Nov. 13.
