The 4-3 Hopkins Royals stay at home for their next game against the 5-4 Coon Rapids Cardinals. The Royals are coming off of two straight losses against St. Louis Park and St. Michael-Albertville.

Hopkins lost to St. Louis Park after a furious four-run rally late in the seventh inning, falling short 11-12.

The team’s other two losses come from two top ten teams in the state, Edina and St. Michael Albertville. The two teams rank nine and five respectively.

The Coon Rapids Cardinals are 5-4 and are riding a three game winning streak that started at Wintercrest Park against Hill-Murray on April 23rd. The team’s last two games have been shutouts against opponents, Blaine and Andover.

“Last time I personally played Coon Rapids, I was in little league, but I remember them being pretty good. The weather looks nice and it should be a well fought game,” said Alex Bowers, senior left fielder.

On the Royals, Alex Schwartz, senior, has his name in the state top ten leaderboards for most home runs with two. Another hot player for the Royals is Jon Koch, senior pitcher. Koch is currently 2-0 with wins against Benilde St. Margaret’s and Armstrong.

The Royals face the Cardinals at home today at 4:30 on the varsity baseball field.
