The girls swim and dive season is halfway through. State is Nov. 18 and is approaching fast. The athletes are working to prepare for sections and the chance to move on to state.

So far, the season has been going well, and Kristen Steenvoorden, head coach, is very satisfied.

“The season is going extremely well. We’ve had several swimmers hit season best times, and we’ve even had a few swimmers and divers hit personal bests. I am looking forward to seeing how the team continues to train before we head into our championship meets,” Steenvoorden said.

Steenvoorden was happy to see that her team was doing as well as she thought they were going to do.

“The season is going how I predicted it to so far,” Steenvoorden said. “We have an extremely young team, with the majority of our team being freshmen or sophomores. It has been fun watching these younger swimmers step up, and our senior leadership has been outstanding.”

Steenvoorden believes that even if a season is going as planned doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be changes.

“I want to continue to work on the little things like technique, starts and turns. It is also important for us to continue to sport each other as a team. This will help us get ready to support each other as we head into the different meets at the end of the season,” Steenvoorden said.
