After losing to Robbinsdale Armstrong 5-1 in the section quarterfinals, the Royals faced elimination as they hosted the Robbinsdale Cooper Hawks.

The way that the section tournament is set up is so that each team has to lose two games to be eliminated, also known as double elimination.

After a 7-13 regular season, the Hawks came into the game with a 2-1 record in sections. In their previous game, they faced Orono and won 10-5.

Starting pitcher Shawn Williams, senior, and the Royals were unable to win the game as they lost to the Hawks 6-1.

The loss to the Hawks ended the Royals’ season, though they hope to continue this season’s success in the future.

“Next year’s team is going to be very strong,” said Robbie Palkert, senior captain.
