Finishing their regular season with a record of 10-10, the Royals baseball team approaches sections looking to make an early impact and move onto the second round.

The Royals got handed the sixth seed, and are set to face off against the eleventh seeded Minneapolis South Gallant Tigers. The Tigers are 5-14 this season, and their pitchers have posted a 6.22 earned run average coming into the game.

The Tigers are in the Minneapolis City conference and are not used to seeing big conference schools like the Royals. The Tigers currently sit in fifth place in their conference.

If the Royals advance to the second round of sections, they would book a date with the 10-10 Edina Hornets. The Hornets have played the Royals twice this year and are 1-1 against them.

Pitcher Robbie Palkert, senior, will be on the hill for the 4:30 first pitch.

The last time the Royals won sections was in 2012, when they posted a (14-6) record. After the Royals advanced from the section tournament, they lost their first two games in the state tournament, ending their season.
