Last night, the volleyball team won their first section match 3-0 against the Orono Spartans.

The first set started off with the Spartans leading 6-1. After a Royals timeout, the team quickly tied up the game 10-10 with help from serves from Carissa Hilgers, senior. The Royals carried that momentum to win the set 25-17.

The second set started off the same as the first, with a quick 8-3 Spartans lead. However, that would be the last time the Royals faced a deficit. The Royals went on to win the second and third matches by scores of 25-21 and 25-11 and advance in the section tournament.

The Royals’ second conference game is Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School against the Wayzata Trojans.
