Last Thursday, Sept. 11, the boys’ cross country team brought home their third consecutive win from the Lucky Lindy Invitational Cross Country Meet in Little Falls, Minn.

“It felt really good because it was the fastest our team has ever ran,” said Joe Klecker, senior captain. “We were pretty sure we were going to win [the meet] because it was small, but it was really good for the team to have its best race of the season heading into bigger meets.”

Although the race is called “Lucky Lindy,” the Royals had more than luck going into this race.

“We have a lot of talent this year,” said Jack Henschel, junior. “There’s a reason this is the fastest our team has ever been.”

Leading the team from the start, Klecker finished the 5K with a time of 15:28.9, followed by Jack Henschel, Owen Hoeft, and Hunter Staack, juniors, as well as Seth Eliason, sophomore.

“A team is five people, so it’s not how fast your best person is. It’s how well the team does together,” Klecker said.

Their next meet is the Roy Griak Invite at the University of Minnesota on Sept. 27.
