In Wednesday’s section 6AA tennis finals, three HHS tennis players advanced to state after winning their section finals match.

Singles player Manny Barrios, senior, beat Minneapolis South’s Jesse Sprinkel 6-4 and 6-3 to advance to the Class AA singles state tournament.

Doubles team Andrew Rust, senior, and Chase Johnson, junior, beat Bloomington Jefferson’s Tim Larson and Andrew McNutt 3-6, 7-6 (3), and 6-1 to advance to the Class AA doubles state tournament.

Last week, HHS lost to Edina 4-3 in team sections. HHS was ranked in the top 10 in state and was the number one seed in their section.

Barrios will face Austin Anderson of White Bear Lake on June 5th at the Baseline Tennis Center at the University of Minnesota

Rust and Johnson will face Matt Dorn and Brock Dillon of Chanhassen, the same day as Barrios.
